We opened this firm to be the kind of place we wished existed when a family member of ours got a phone call they didn't know how to handle. A place where a person could talk to a real lawyer, be told the truth, and never wonder where their case stood.

Our job is to help ordinary people push back against the companies, institutions, and forces that assume nobody will. We do it one case at a time — carefully, without noise, and without asking a client to become a legal expert in the middle of the worst month of their life.
It is not glamorous work. It rarely makes the news. But when it goes the way it should, a family gets a piece of their life back — and that is the whole reason we do it.
Our story
A firm founded on a
specific frustration.
Paul Mankin opened the firm in 2009 after years of watching the same pattern: creditors, insurers, and manufacturers acting badly, and ordinary people with no realistic way to fight back. He had seen it externing for bankruptcy court judges in law school and again at a personal injury firm in Beverly Hills.
The idea was simple: build a firm small enough that every client talked to a real lawyer, honest enough to say no when a case wasn't a fit, and disciplined enough to take the ones it did take all the way through — including to trial when trial was the answer.
That is still, sixteen years later, how the firm is run. It has grown. The practice areas have widened. The team behind Paul has become an unusually good one. But the idea has not moved.
